Zonal Champions

The saying " slowly but surely" means more to the athletes of St. James Primary School now more than ever. As they performed credibly in their latest outing during the National Primary School Athletic Championship. The girls won their respective zone ( Obadele Thompson) and the boys did pretty good as well.
Given  support and encouragement these athletes will continue to blossom and take St. James Primary even further. " Slowly but surely"

Thoughts for the future

"Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life"- Confucius

The oldest children in the school certainly took these words to heart as they literally went  next door  to see what the job market had in store for them. The students traversed throughout the hall of the Frederick Smith Secondary School, observing and taking notes of some of the different career opportunities available to them.  They were encouraged by booth owners to go  after their dreams and never let anyone deter them from achieving what they wanted to be.
In conclusion, when the children returned to their classes it was clear that most of their thoughts were focused on the future.

Songs of Praise

This past Monday, the students were treated to some dynamic and energetic performances by  the Cumberland Christian Academy. The children sat attentively by the Blow's brow and sang along to the many encouraging and uplifting songs the group performed.
The high school juniors and seniors of the academy based out of Atlanta Georgia led the children in song, dance and puppetry. Even giving a few lucky children the opportunity to touch the puppets. (Pictured to the right)

Pastor Henphill, the leader of the group , has been visiting the island for approximately 22 years, spreading the word of the Lord throughout the island's primary schools. He left the children with  a very important message.
The message was simply "Jesus loves you and is your friend."

Voices of the New Generation

The school has pockets of untapped and unearthed talent, but this is soon a thing of the past. As more and more students step into the limelight to put their talents on display and let their voices be heard.
Here are two groups of children who have taken the right steps in that  direction.
They are the St. James Primary School Choir and the school's newly formed Student's Council.
We look forward to hearing these voices now and for some time to come. (Pictured below)

Panthers #1

"It's a celebration"

The 2015 Red House 'Panthers' certainly made their presence felt at the school's annual Prize Giving ceremony. The trophy presentation area was drowned in a sea of red for the majority of the ceremony, as the roars of the panthers could be heard in the distant residential areas.
Fun was had by all, as athletes and supporters alike, cheered on the individual athletes who collected their rewards for their performance on Sports Day.
However, the sweet sounds of the music and house songs were not enough to mask the on going rivalries between the houses. As flags, banners and cheerleaders still competed on the day.
What would you expect when you put a lion, panther and smurf in the same space?!

Congratulations to Red House      The 2015 Inter House Champions

Look At The Amazing Displays of Colours, Colours....

St. James Primary School Sports Day

The  St. James Primary School annual Sports Day was a sight to behold this past February. Each house donned  their respective colours. But something was different this year, as the colours were so lively and displayed flairs of creativity. So much so that the spectators felt as though were viewing a parade.

The day ran smoothly as events were completed in a quick succession ,as soon as they started, they were finished and then 'onto the next one'.

The Red house 'Panthers' took the spoils, even though at times it looked like the 'Blazin Blue Smurfs' were setting up to swipe the contest from the claws of the Panthers. The defending champs ' The Golden Lions' showed glimpses of the form that wrestled the title from the 'Panthers' the previous year. But heart alone was not enough to retain the championship and they weren't a contender this year.

Finally, based on  the feedback from this Sports Day and the promising talent exhibited ; the 2016 Sports Day is promising to be an even more spectacular affair.

The students and staff of the St. James Primary School, took part in various fun and educational activities to celebrate African Awareness month. The students were exposed to different aspects of the African culture throughout the month of February.
